Phones and tablets
| Works on | |
|---|---|
| iPhone and iPad | iOS 15.0 or later |
| Android phone or tablet | Android 8.0 or later |
iOS 15 runs on devices as old as an iPhone 6s or an iPad Air 2, so an old phone or tablet in a drawer can become your child’s maths device without buying anything new.
Each child can use their own device, or the whole family can share one. See Getting your child signed in.
An internet connection
Kākā Math needs to be online. Lessons, hints, Cheeky Check and your child’s progress all come from our servers, so there is no offline mode. Home Wi-Fi is plenty. If the connection drops, a strip at the top of the screen says the app is offline and some things may not update.
A camera, for Cheeky Check
Cheeky Check photographs your child’s handwritten working, so it needs the device’s camera. You can also tap Choose from Library to use a photo you have already taken.
A web browser, for billing and plan prep
There is no web version of the app. On the website you can manage a card subscription at kakamath.nz/billing, and open the prep page linked from the weekly plan email, which needs no sign-in. Everything else, including the parent screens, is in the app.
