What Cheeky Check is

Your child photographs their handwritten working, and Kākā reads it and responds to the method, not just the answer.

Cheeky Check is for maths done on paper: homework, a worksheet from school, or working out a problem in an exercise book. Your child takes a photo, and Kākā reads the handwriting, works out what the question was and what they did, and helps from there.

What it is good for

  • One question they are stuck on. Kākā teaches the method a step at a time, with a chance to try each step before seeing it.
  • A whole worksheet. Kākā finds each question on the page, marks what has been done, and lets your child open any of them for help.
  • Checking finished work. Kākā points to where a method went wrong, rather than just saying right or wrong.

What it won’t do

Cheeky Check teaches before it tells. The full solution is there, but it comes after the steps, so a child copying answers has to go past the teaching to get them.

Where it is

The Scan tab, on both your child’s screens and your own. A parent can run a check for a child: see Checking homework as a parent.
