On your home screen, tap Add Child.
What to fill in
| Field | Needed? | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | What Kākā calls your child |
| Optional | Lets you email them a login link for their own device | |
| Nickname | Optional | Shown instead of their name where there is room |
| Birthday | Optional | Tap Set date. A birthday suggests a year level for you |
| Year levels | Yes | Which year’s curriculum they work on. Tick at least one |
Then tap Add child at the bottom.
There is no password to set. A child gets into the app through your device or a login link, so they never need one. See Getting your child signed in.
Choosing a year level
Pick the year your child is in at school. You can tick more than one, for example their own year and the one below to fill gaps, and they can switch between them in the app. See Year levels and pathways.
Not sure where they sit? The Maths Check-In is a short quiz that suggests where to start.
How many children
Up to five on one family account. Once you have five, the Add Child button is replaced with a note saying so. Each child has their own year level, progress, Feathers and rewards. Your own learning profile, if you learn alongside a child, is not a child and doesn’t count towards the five.
To change or remove a child later, see Edit or remove a child.
