Getting your child signed in

On a shared device, tap Switch to Child. On their own device, send them a login link.

Children never need a password. There are two ways in, depending on whose device it is.

On your device, or one the family shares

On your home screen, tap Switch to Child on your child’s card. The app becomes theirs: their Nest, their lessons, their Feathers.

The first time you do this, the app asks you to set a four-digit family PIN. You need the PIN to switch back, so your child can’t wander into the parent screens. See Switch to your child and back.

On your child’s own device

Send a login link:

  1. On your home screen, tap Share Link on your child’s card.
  2. Choose Send via Email, Copy Link or Share… to send it by message.
  3. On your child’s device, open the link. If Kākā Math is installed, it opens the app signed in as your child.

A login link:

  • works once,
  • lasts 24 hours,
  • is cancelled when you send a newer one.

Send via Email only works if your child has a real email address on their profile. If you didn’t give one, use Copy Link or Share… instead.

Signing a device out

Your child’s page lists every device they are signed in on under Active Sessions, and you can sign any of them out from there. See Your child’s devices.
