Your child's data and privacy

This page is the short version. The privacy policy is the full one.

What we keep

• Your child’s name, any nickname or email you add, their birthday if you give one, and their year levels.
• Their work: answers, progress, Feathers, badges, and the photos and results of their Cheeky Checks.

You can see, correct or delete any of it from the parent screens. See Edit or remove a child and Delete your account. A single Cheeky Check can be deleted from Previous Snaps: touch and hold it, then tap Delete.

Deleting a child or your whole account removes their data straight away, with no recovery period. Copies in our backups are overwritten on their normal rotation.

The AI behind the tutor

Kākā’s hints, explanations and Cheeky Check feedback are written by AI. That is Anthropic’s Claude, unless we have switched a task to Google’s Gemini. Either way, it is sent only what it needs to answer: the question, your child’s answer or the photo of their working, and their year level. It is never sent your child’s name or email address. A photo does show whatever is on the page, so if a worksheet has your child’s full name at the top, fold it out of the shot.

Three other AI services help make the course itself: OpenAI draws the question illustrations, Gemini draws Kākā and the rewards, and ElevenLabs reads the lessons aloud. They work from our own lesson material and are sent nothing about your child.

What we never do

• Use your child’s work or photos to train AI models.
• Show advertising to children.
• Let a child buy anything. Nothing in a child’s screens costs real money.
• Share your child’s work with another family. A flock leaderboard shows only names, avatars, totals and badges.

When you contact support

The in-app Contact Support form sends your app version and device type so we can help faster. Nothing about your children is sent with it.
